The pickup’s details are still unknown.
It was easy to put together the next-gen Toyota Tundra’s design, but it was much more difficult than figuring out what Toyota will do underneath. The new truck has been teased by the company for several months. There may not be a end in sight to this campaign. However, a new patent trademark filing gives hints as to what we might see when Toyota finally unveils it. Toyota filed a trademark last Friday for Hybrid Max, but it is not clear what Toyota intends to do with it.
Toyota teased the iForce Max name as the Tundra’s powertrain in June. However, we haven’t been able to find any details. Hybrid Max could be a hint that Toyota is working on a hybrid powertrain to power the Tundra. There are also new rumors that support this theory. It was suggested that Toyota is working on a hybrid diesel-electric motor to power off-road-oriented vehicles and commercial vehicles. This sounds great for the Hybrid Max.
Although images of the truck’s striking exterior have been leaked, there is still much to learn about the pickup, including its specifications. Teaser photos have shown a small portion of the interior revamp, which will include an iPad-like touchscreen at the top of the center console on the high-trimmed models. The standard screen is smaller, and integrates into the dashboard. A fully digital instrument cluster is also possible.
Rumours suggest that the Tundra’s iForce Max moniker will be adorning Toyota’s 3.5-liter twin turbocharged V6, which is also powering the new Land Cruiser. The LC engine is 409 horsepower (304 kilowatts) with 479 pound-feet (475 Newton-meters) of torque. It pairs with a 10-speed auto gearbox. Toyota hasn’t been as fast as other manufacturers to add electrification on its models. However, Toyota’s most recent trademark suggests that this could change for one its most important models.
