This car is the most realistic Traxxas ever made for on-road RC cars.
If you enjoy RC cars on the road, then you will have heard of its official licensed cars that are built on the 4-Tec 2.0 chassis. We have played with the Ford GT model before and enjoyed its speed and real-life feel. Traxxas isn’t a company that slouches. This week, Traxxas has unveiled a new 4-Tec 3.0 chassis. It’s larger and more powerful than the previous one. The first model to use it will a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The mid-engine C8 now comes with its own Traxxas model.
Let’s begin with the realist. Traxxas adopted a new body mounting system that doesn’t have clips on the exterior. This has allowed Traxxas to improve its scale accuracy. One thing we did not like about the Ford GT was the body clips. They looked terrible and scratched the body after many uses. However, the C8 Corvette model uses a system that locks and releases the body to the chassis using a hidden mechanism.
Let’s discuss the new 4-Tec 3.0 chassis. It’s longer and wider than the 2.0 chassis. This means that the C8 Corvette model will be larger than previous 4-Tec cars. This means that the car will be easier to handle and more stable at high speeds. The Corvette can reach speeds of 30 mph with the optional pinion gear, but it’s still far from its maximum potential. A few carefully chosen upgrades can easily increase the car’s speed to over 50 mph.
The 4-Tec 3.0 chassis has more of the same goodness as the 2.0. It includes fully waterproof electronics and oil-filled shocks. According to Traxxas, the Corvette Stingray model will retail for $349.99 and be available by May 1. This is slightly more than the remaining 4-Tec 2.0 models of the company. The popular Ford GT and Mustang models retail for $309.99. The extra $40 seems well worth it considering the increase in size and the new features such as the clipless body.
