Video: First Look at the New Lamborghini Countach

The Countach is back and it looks stunning in person.

The Lamborghini Countach has returned – or the nameplate. The retro supercar, which was unveiled today at The Quail, Monterey, features throwback styling, a hybrid V12 engine that produces 803 horsepower (599 kilowatts) and limited production of 112 units worldwide. Clint Simone, Motor1.com‘s Director of Video, was able to capture the spectacular coupe on film.

Since the original was discontinued thirty years ago, this is the first Countach to be added to the Lamborghini line. Although technically it isn’t a new model, it rides on the same platform as the Aventador’s outgoing Aventador’s platform, it has a few unique features that make it well worth the multi-million-dollar asking prices.

The same 6.5-liter hybrid V12 engine from the Sian FKP37 is under the hood. This powertrain produces the 803 horsepower mentioned above. It can hit 60 in just 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed at 221 mph (356 kmh). Through a seven-speed transmission, power is delivered to all four wheels. Sorry, no manual.

The design of the new Countach is heavily influenced by its predecessor, the LP400. This was produced up until 1990. This color is a great match for the 25th Anniversary Edition. The new Countach features a flat nose, pop-up-inspired headlights at the front and an inverted-wedge rear. The new Countach has unique taillights and quad exhaust tips. It also features staggered 20 and 21-inch wheels and, of course, scissor door.

Later this year, the new Lamborghini countach will be in customers’ hands. Although the price has not been officially disclosed by Lamborghini, rumors suggest that this supercar will easily reach $1 million. Some even speculate that it could be as high as $3.5 million. It’s clear why Lamborghini has limited production to 112 units around the world.
