According to the company, it is exploring this model.
Volkswagen’s future plans include a large bet on electric vehicles. The company promises 75 EVs by 2020, and it will be a wild ride for VW. If recent comments by the company indicate that it intends , then this future could include an all-electric pickup truck. KDesign AG created two renderings of the pickup that show what it could look like if VW gave the go-ahead.
These are not many surprises. The pickup truck body is well adapted to VW’s ID subbrand styling. The truck’s front ends are complemented by a thin grille and sleek headlights. A stylized lower bumper also fits seamlessly. The truck’s front end is finished with the sleek headlights that bleed across the front wheels, creating a graceful body crease. A front skid plate and wheel-cladding add a touch of ruggedness. It also features ” Voltswagen” front and rear license plates.
Although the rear is somewhat bulbous, it still features the ID’s full width taillight element. A body crease is added to the rear wheel wells, giving it some sporty styling. These renderings look very similar to the VW Atlas Tonak Concept The company presented the vehicle at the 2018 New York Auto Show. It was ridden on the MQB modular platform from VW, which also supported the design. Atlas Although the SUV concept was extended into a full-size offering by VW, it wasn’t what VW meant to hint at with its comments regarding a new MEB platform based BEV pickup.
According to Hein Schafer (VWF), it would be somewhere in the middle-sized range or “maybe something bigger”. Hein Schafer was responding to a comment that VW offered a Ford Maverick rival on a recent Autoline After Hours show. This wasn’t the first time that such a model was mentioned by the company. Thomas Ulbrich (VW’s board member responsible for electric mobility) had stated in August 2020 that VW was looking into producing an MEB-based EV pickup.
