Outback owners who have “I love nature” stickers may be harmful to the environment.
This 30-second video is about the ID.4 and how it is better for your family. It also shows how the SUV’s electrical powertrain is silent so people can “take in the sweet sounds nature.” All is well and good until the Subaru Outback interrupts Mother Nature’s music.
VW is passively-aggressively criticizing Subaru Outback owners, especially those with “I Love Nature” stickers, for not caring about the environment. The essence of the advertisement is that the ID.4 can be used to protect our fragile nature, while a traditional vehicle with a gasoline engine is noisy and dangerous for the environment.
We were also struck by the contrast between the VW ID.4 and Outback’s squeaky clean appearance. This further hints at the differences between EVs and ICE. We must not forget that the ID.4 is now part of VoA’s lineup alongside the Tiguan and Atlas as well as Atlas Cross Sport. In the first quarter 2021, nearly 58,000 SUVs were sold using internal combustion engines.
Subaru sold almost 139,000 gasoline-powered SUVs, including the Outback-y wagon, in the same time period. The company is collaborating with Toyota to create a zero emission SUV called “Evoltis”, while VW continues to invest heavily in new ICEless models. In some markets, the ID.5 (and ID.6) will be out in this year. The ID Buzz, a modern Microbus, and the entry-level ID.1 in 2025 and 2026 are the next models.
