This evening, Volkswagen took the wraps off the XL Sport at the Paris Motor Show.
The XL Sport has been unveiled by Volkswagen at the Paris Motor Show.
The XL1 is the most fuel-efficient car ever built, but the XL Sport has the world’s most powerful 2-cylinder engine. It is derived from a Ducati 1199 Superleggera. The engine produces 197 horsepower (147 kW), which gives the vehicle a 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h), run time of 5.7 seconds, and top speed at 168 mph (265 km/h).
The engine’s 1199cc output is cranked up to 11,000 RPM and is coupled with a dual-clutch 7-speed gearbox. 18-inch forged magnesium alloy wheels are mounted on both axles. High-performance tires 205/40 R18 and 265/35 R18 are wrapped around them. Ceramic brakes provide stopping power and the body panels, which are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), keep weight to 1,962 lbs (890 kilogram).
The Volkswagen XL Sport boasts a drag coefficient 0.258. It also benefits from titanium connecting rods and pushrod rear suspension. Wing doors open to reveal a digital cluster of instruments and a carbon fiber cowl.
