VW Jetta GLI Facelift Revealed – First Tweaked Looks

VW doesn’t want to see too many changes yet.

This is the first glimpse at Volkswagen’s Jetta-gli-storm-chicago%22%2C%22section%22%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22volkswagen Jetta-glisports sedan. The current version was unveiled at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show.

The pictures show that the VW engineers didn’t use much camouflage to disguise the Jetta GLI. A tiny front splitter is added by the company below the fascia. The lower opening’s mesh pattern has larger holes than the original design. Other than the adoption of the updated VW emblem, the upper grille does not seem to be changing.

The rear of the vehicle has a prominent fascia, which partially covers each exhaust layout. Between the opening is a honeycomb-like pattern. VW may plan to add a finisher because the rear pipes are too small for filling up the holes.

The rear bumper’s red reflectors are taped on, according to spy photographers. This could indicate that there are more changes to the GLI’s back.

Although there aren’t any spy photos of the cabin yet, the exterior suggests that we don’t expect major changes. VW could update the infotainment software and tweak the cabin trim. However, don’t expect any major changes.

It’s likely that the underside of the car is not too different. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder is standard on the existing model. It produces 228 horsepower (170 Kilowatts) as well as 258 pound-feet (353 Newton-meters). You can choose between a seven-speed dual clutch automatic or a 6-speed manual.

In the third quarter 2021 , the updated Jetta will be unveiled. The new Golf GTI, and the Golf R, also arrive in the US in Q3. The GTI has 241 horsepower (180 kW), while the R has 315 horsepower (235 kW),. The Clubsport is between them, with 296 horsepower (221 kW), but VW has not confirmed this for America.
