Although it is quite old, 662 horsepower is still plenty.
The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 was the most powerful American muscle car available in 2014. The GT500 has a lot more power, but things have changed. The Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds has gotten a hold of an older model for its latest video to show how it performs.
The 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 boasts a supercharged 5.8 liter V8 that produces 662 horsepower (494 Kilowatts) as well as 631 pound-feet (855 Newton meters) of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
This run covers 2.7 miles (4.35 km) of the 3.22 mile (5.15 kilometers) course. It is 8.3 feet (2.53m) above sea level and has a 0.25 inch (0.635 cm) elevation change over its distance.
The driver uses a gentle roll to start, before releasing the accelerator. Acceleration up to 155 mph (249 km/h) occurs quickly but the gearshift at this speed slows down speed.
Still, the GT500 is gaining speed. The Mustang will reach 184 mph (296 km/h) when it passes the finish line. The GPS however shows that the car reached 183.116 mph (296.97 kph).
The modern Mustang Shelby GT500 still has a 5.2-liter supercharged engine V8. It produces 760 horsepower (567 kW) as well as 625 lbft (847 Nm), of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is available instead of a six speed manual. According to the official specifications, it can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.3 seconds. It also has a maximum speed of 180 mph (289.7 Kph).
Ford has added the colors Grabber Yellow and Carbonized Gray to the 2021 GT500. The new Carbon Fiber Handling Package costs $10,00. It includes 20-inch carbon fibre wheels, adjustable top mounts, a catch container, gurney flap and splitterwickers.
