It is unbeatable.
The Koenigsegg Regera megacar set a new lap record on a very unusual track. The Koenigsegg Regera is a fast, high-speed car that you would expect to be in the news. However, it beat several feather-weight competitors at the Ring Kuntstorp in Sweden. Because of the track’s proximity to their factory, the Koenigsegg team saw it as an opportunity for history. We’d all love to see the Koenigsegg Regera set the Nurburgring lap record, but this video is good enough.
The Koenigsegg Regera supercar is not your average one. The Regera is a megacar, according to Koenigsegg. It has a power output of more than one megawatt and a total output output of 1,500 horses. To produce the most powerful powertrain possible, the Koenigsegg Regera had a twin-turbo V8 motor and three electric motors. The Koenigsegg Regera has a unique single gear and clutch that engages the engine at higher speeds.
The Koenigsegg Regera was built for comfort, which makes it even more impressive. Christian Von Koenigsegg explains that they produce lighter, more track-focused cars which would do a better job.
Ring Kuntstorp boasts all the familiar names in its track record. This tight circuit favours agile cars that don’t depend on downforce for grip. To claim the title, the Koenigsegg Regera had beat cars such as the McLaren Senna and BAC MONO, Caterham R500 and McLaren 600 LT. The Koenigsegg Regera’s success is proof that it’s more than a hybrid grand tourer.
