How the world’s smallest country becomes a racetrack.
Monaco is undoubtedly one of the wealthiest and most expensive places in the world. Although we don’t have enough data to prove it, we believe that it is the most densely populated city in the world. The importance of this race for the motoring industry goes beyond its location. It hosts one of the most prestigious and important automobile races in the world. We are referring to the Monaco Grand Prix.
The first Formula 1 Monaco GP took place in 1950. It is one of three races that make up the so-called Triple Crown of Motorsport. It has been in every F1 calendar since 1955. 2020 is the exception. Although the overall layout of the track has been modified multiple times throughout the years, it has remained relatively unchanged for more than six decades.
A new video from The YouTube shows us Monaco’s changes before each race. The race preparations include the construction of stands, barriers and media centers, as well as resurfacing roads. Each year, about a third (3.3-kilometer) of the circuit’s 2-mile route is resurfaced.
Monaco GP’s facilities, which include pit garages and entire media center, are mostly temporary. However, they are not as high-tech as permanent circuits. This presents many challenges to organizers. The team takes around two weeks to put together the tech base, with enough space for the technical, mechanical and hospitality sections for each Formula 1 team.
