Watch the POTUS have Fun with Hummer EV at Factory ZERO’s Grand Opening

Biden’s passion for cars extends beyond the gas-guzzling models.

While the GM Factory ZERO was inaugurated, President Biden took a test drive in the GMC Hummer EV before he gave his speech. He loved it.

The footage was taken from C–Span (video embedded above). It shows Biden taking a 10-minute drive around behind a Hummer EV. Biden had a lot of fun on the test drive, even though it was within Factory ZERO’s grounds. You can see that he tried the Crab Walk mode several times.

Biden says this about the Hummer Electric Vehicle (EV) at the end of the footage:

“Anyone want jump on the roof or in the back?” These suckers are something different.

There’s more. The Hummer EV’s three electric motors drive the wheels and produce a GM-estimated 1,000 horsepower (746 kilowatts) as well as a staggering 11,500 pound-feet (15.592 newton meters) at the wheels. During launches you can see the electric pickup rearing up.

The GM Factory ZERO will produce the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup, the Chevrolet Silverado EV. Factory ZERO will have over 2,200 employees when it is fully operational. The Hummer EV pickup will be the first vehicle to go into production.

All of the above mentioned nameplates will be built on top of GM’s modular Ultium platform. Everything required to build GM EVs is covered by the EV-dedicated architecture, which includes battery cells, modules packs, drive units and EV motors.

GM estimated that the GMC Hummer EV’s range would exceed 350 miles at the time it was announced. A leak via MyChevrolet App showed that the distance you could travel on a single full charge is 334 miles.

At the time of writing, the official EPA-estimated range for the Hummer EV pickup was not available.
