Watch Two Koenigsegg Jesko Prototypes Hit Track To Have Some Fun

In a Koenigsegg, there’s a fine line between play and work.

Koenigsegg presented the Jesko hypercar two years ago at 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The Jesko Absolute was released a year later by the company. However, the Jesko regular model is still being developed. A video was posted by the company on Facebook, highlighting two Jesko prototypes. However, it seems like the drivers are having more time than actually working on any development. Perhaps that was off-camera.

Although the video only shows the two hypercars at the airstrip, most footage shows them racing down the tarmac at full tilt or drifting. The cars slide the rear end out, with whiffs and tire smoke filling in the air. These are two things that the Jesko excels at. Koenigsegg introduced this car, named for the founder, with a modified version of its twin-turbocharged, 5.0-liter V8. The car produces 1,600 horsepower (1.193 kilowatts), and peak torque hits 1,106 pound-feet (1.500 Newton-meters).

This is enough power to outpower the rear tires. The Jesko still produces 1,280 horsepower (995 KW) even on regular gasoline. The mill has had numerous upgrades by Koenigsegg that have produced all this power. The engine features a flat-plane crankshaft and larger turbos. It also has a modified intake and an exclusive air injection system. The engine is paired with the company’s Light Speed Transmission, which allows the driver to select the gear that provides the car the fastest acceleration.

Koenigsegg is only going to build 125 Jesko models. However, each one has been sold. The car is not cheap. The naked carbon fiber body option costs $443,400. This hypercar’s performance is paired with a hypercar-price tag. With the right configuration, the price can jump to more than $4 million. This is higher than the $3.8 million Bugatti Chiron Super Sport300+. Koenigsegg also works on the Jesko Absolut. This car will be the fastest ever built by the company and will break the 300-mile per hour barrier.
