Mix of modern power and classic looks.
Two wild roadsters were built by Dave Kindig and Kindig-it Design. They have an inspired look from the 1953 Chevrolet Corvette and a powerful powertrain. These silver and white cars are now made with carbon fiber panels, rather than the original fiberglass body. This is an impressive retromod.
This design is reminiscent of the original single-headlight Corvettes but with subtle modifications. The rear portion of the body appears a little longer and the front wheel well is not as teardrop-shaped as the real ‘Vette.
Roadster Shop Spec 7 chassis are used to transport the machines. The Lingenfelter-tuned LS7 engine produces 673 horsepower (502 kilowatts). It runs through a GM Performance 4L80E automatic transmission.
Remember that the 1953 Corvette was the first year for the famed sportscar. However, the only engine that was available was a 235-cubic inch (3.85-liter), inline-six with 150 horsepower (112 kilowatts). The Kindig-it Design vehicles have approximately 4.5 times as much power as the original.
The rest of the vehicle is retro-looking, but the wheels are a Forgeline five-spoke design measuring 21 inches in front, 22 inches back. We find the look a little too modern for the rest of the aesthetic. However, the Michelin Pilot S4 tires will provide good grip.
Wilwood disc brakes are now available instead of the original drums. These brakes should be able to bring these beasts to an abrupt halt.
